Rachael Gula (she/they) has been a life-long writer and music maker. Now she teaches and performs with over two decades of experience. She releases music under the name rach and plays a handful of instruments, including the ukulele, harmonica, guitar, piano, vocals and percussion.
Rachael has worked as a music instructor for the past 14 years and has experience working with folks of all ages. From scoring short films to playing live music in theater productions, her music presence is interdisciplinary.
Rachael sprouted from Chumash land in California. From the ocean to the creek running through the lands of the Arapaho, Ute, and Cheyenne peoples, she lives to submerge in and commune with the waterscapes Earth lovingly offers.
She organizes with the grassroots community Climatique, holds a BA in Music for Intersectional Environmentalism and an MFA for Poetics & Creative Writing from the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics. She has studied experimental writing, music production, music improvisation, music ensemble, creative voice, and play writing.
Rachael's work has been featured in Bombay Gin Literary Journal and the chapbook, "Fence Fruit Palace" from Dark Leaf Publications in 2025.
She appears in projects such as "ARCHIVE AFTER ALL" and "The Living Thread," a collaborative album of poetry and music produced by Ambrose Bye of Fast Speaking Music, and "Community Garden," a compilation album featuring various artists including Crywank and Tyler Burkhart.
Her solo debut EP "elements" is streaming on all platforms.
